Terms of use
These terms describe what herimap offers, what we ask of you, and where responsibility lies. By using the site you accept them.
What herimap is
herimap is a map and directory of privately owned historic houses in Europe. Anyone can browse it. Owners can claim their house, describe it, publish events, and offer spaces to visit or hire.
herimap introduces people to houses. It does not own them and does not run them.
Who may use it
You may use herimap if you can enter into a binding agreement where you live. If you use it on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to do so.
Your account
Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used them. Give accurate information and keep it current — decisions about who may manage a house depend on it.
We may suspend or close an account used to misrepresent, to harass, or to break these terms.
Claiming a house
Claiming a house is a statement that you own it or are authorised to act for its owner. We review claims and may ask for evidence before approving one.
A claim made falsely will be revoked and the account behind it may be closed. Where a house is already on the map, claim the existing entry rather than adding a second one.
What you contribute
What you write and upload stays yours. By publishing it here you permit us to store, display and translate it as part of the service, and to show it in search results and previews.
You must hold the rights to what you upload. Photographs are the usual difficulty: a picture taken by someone else needs their permission, whoever owns the house.
We may remove content that is unlawful, infringing, or plainly wrong about a house.
Acceptable use
Do not use herimap to break the law, to misrepresent who you are, or to harass anyone.
Do not bulk-download the catalogue, work around access controls, or run automated tools in a way that degrades the service for others. If you need the data, ask us.
Visits, bookings and events
When you request a booking, a ticket or a visit, any agreement that follows is between you and the house owner. herimap passes the request on and keeps a record of it; it is not a party to that agreement and does not guarantee that a visit will take place.
Owners are responsible for what they publish — opening times, prices, access, and safety at the house.
The platform does not currently take payments. If that changes, the terms covering it will be published before it does.
Information from public sources
Many entries begin from public sources, including OpenStreetMap and Wikidata, and may be incomplete or out of date until an owner corrects them. If something about a house is wrong, write to info@herimap.eu.
Availability
herimap is in a limited test period. Features may change or be withdrawn and the service may be unavailable at times. We do not promise a level of availability during this period.
Liability
The service is provided as it is. So far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for what an owner or a visitor does, or for content supplied by others.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, nor does it affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
Ending your use
You can stop using herimap and delete your account at any time from your account page. We may end your access if these terms are broken. Information already published about a house may remain where a record of it is needed.
Changes, and how to reach us
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced on the site before they take effect. Write to info@herimap.eu with any question about them.
This document is published in English, Czech, German, Spanish, French and Italian. Where the versions differ, the English text applies.
